Hey taxi!!
Scince I wrote about taxi-brousse – inter-town transportation before（「About Transportation Around the Island」）, I’ve introduced the traffic system in town in this article. There are some options in public transportation in town including bus, taxi, tuk-tuk and pus-pus. There are differences in which options are more popular among towns e.g. because there are many steep slopes in Antananarivo, we can’t see pus-pus which is human-powered vehicle and bus and taxi are the majority there, on the other hand, in Toamasina where is located near the sea and flat tuk-tuk and pus-pus are popular. Anyway, I want to focus on taxi this time.
Malagasy taxis look very cute. Color is white or light cream. Antique cars are still activily running, whilst in often the case we encounter cars stop middle of slop or even unable to start. In the case like that people around the car would come and push and push and push the car to help it go.
Taxi does not have a mater to calculate fee. You have to tell driver your destination and negotiate the fee before getting on it. You will see appropriate price after using taxi several times.
