East and west, differences in architecture: east
As I ealier introduced architectural style of local houses in west area, I’ve written about east area this time. In east area of Madagasar where they have lots of rain throughout the year, you would find many high-floored houses made of bamboo and traveler’s palm dislike houses in western area which are made of mud or clay. This would be because people can get bamboo and traveler’s palm easily as they plenty grow around there, and also these plants are much more suitable than mud and clay in the area with high temperature and humidity.
Anyway, I’m always worried when I heard news saying a cyclone is coming to Madagascar – if these houses will be blown away by the strong wind.
There are even great two-story houses.
